St Athan is a village in the Vale of Glamorgan in South Wales. The iconic church is the focal point of the village and dates back to the 13th century. The church and the village are dedicated to a Celtic saint who travelled from Ireland to Wales and founded the church that stands proud today. Today the village is primarily a residential region with a close community feel.
St Athan is a village and community in the Vale of Glamorgan in South Wales, sitting eighteen miles from the capital of Wales and around eight miles from the seaside town of Barry. Many notable buildings in the village have created the pillars of how the community was built, from St Athan Church and War Memorial to The Old Rectory and West Orchard Farmhouse, all grade II listed buildings. The locals favour the football and golf clubs, and the one pub in the area is a hub for local get-togethers.
