About Nottingham
Famous for being the setting of legendary folklore of the lovable robber and local hero, Robin Hood, Nottingham will always be known worldwide for its connection to this timeless tale. The city is situated 33 miles from Sheffield, 45 miles from Birmingham and 110 miles from London and with a population of 330,000, it is the seventh largest city in the United Kingdom. Nottingham is a thriving financial ecosystem in its own right, and it shows across almost all industries. In 2015 the city was named "Home to English Sport" - with ice skating, watersports, cricket, football and more all prevalent in the area. Additionally, Financial & Business, sciences, logistics and manufacturing all exist in the town. Accessibility in and out of the city is easy, with a large railway station and frequent bus links.
The Nottingham Community
The city is diverse in all senses of the word; there are three universities in the city, it is known to be a hub of literary heritage, with Lord Byron and D.H. Lawerence having solid connections to the area and its lace and tobacco industries have helped the economy flourish for years; there is a lot that binds the city together. There is no end to the entertainment and activities you can participate in Nottingham. Of course, Sherwood Forest is a beautiful walking spot and a must-see, but Nottingham Castle, Wollaton Hall and Newstead Abbey are excellent historical ties to the city. The Old Market Square, Trent Bridge and The City Caves are all celebrated hot spots for locals and visitors. And shopping, pubs, international dining and live music are also part of the specular culture embedded in the city walls.
