With a population of approximately 9000, this ex-mining village is located 12.5 miles from Nottingham, 13.5 from Derby and two miles east of the town of Alfreton. The village has easy accessibility by road, making it straightforward to get to neighbouring towns and cities across the midlands.

Carnfield Hall was built sometime before the early 14th Century, and housed prominent figures of the time. Today, the Hall houses various fascinating collections of antique furniture, porcelain and glass, family portraits and much more. The house is now available to be seen by the public and includes ninety acres of park and ancient woodland for visitors to enjoy. South Normanton is also home to the East Midlands Designer Outlet, a popular hot spot for those looking for some retail therapy, restaurants and activities for the kids.
