Sitting right on the Bristol Channel coast, Llantwit Major, is one of four towns nestled in the Vale of Glamorgan (home of the famous sausages). The other towns include Barry, Penarth and Cowbridge. The beach is a popular destination for summer tourists from Wales and the rest of the UK. Accessibility to other parts of Wales is simple from Llantwit Major, Cardiff is just fifteen miles from the village, and Barry is ten miles away. With a population of approximately 10,000 residents, this picturesque Welsh village is a hidden gem.
Llantwit Major beach is famous for its surfing, and thousands of surfers flock to the area all year round to get the best from the waves. In addition, the idyllic coastal walks, rock pools, sand and cliff tops are a draw for residents and visitors to the region. The narrow streets are like walking back into a moment in history, with many taking part in the Plaque Trail that uncovers the town's history and all the traditions of the land - iconic landmarks along the trail include the Town Hall, the Dovecote and Gatehouse, the Old Place (Elizabethan manor), and Dimlands Castle lodge.
