Did you know…

Rogerstone is a village steeped in historical value. The original settlement in the area dates back to Norman times, but it was in the early part of the 12th century that the still present Rogerstone Castle was built. Although it is not much more than a tree covered motte, the site still exists. Named after the Norman Lord, Roger de Haia had the castle built with a view to settling in the area. The Welsh name for Rogerstone, "Ty Du", translates as "Black House"; though the reason for this is unclear, it remains a mystery in the community of Rogerstone.

About Rogerstone

This large village in Newport, Wales, has approximately 11,000 residents and lies at the gateway to the Sirhowy valley. Bordered by the M4 motorway to the south, the Ebbw River to the west, and the Henllys Vale to the east, the village is accessible to visitors and to other areas of Wales, including Newport City Centre, which is just 3 miles away and Cardiff 12.5 miles. In 2014, the nearby Celtic Manor Resort hosted the Nato Summit; as part of the annual event, the Mount Pleasant Primary School students were visited by former Prime Minister David Cameron and US President Barack Obama. As a result, one of the streets in the Jubilee Park housing development was named Obama Grove in homage to this special event.

The Rogerstone Community

The canal draws a sizable tourist crowd, particularly those looking to walk or cycle along the route and enjoy the area's stunning natural sights. Additionally, Welfare Grounds and the Mescoed Mawr woodlands are popular spots for locals and visitors looking to walk the dog, play, exercise or enjoy the idyllic setting of the location. The area is a draw for young families, with four primary schools in the local community and secondary school options, which are a short distance in neighbouring towns. With Newport centre a short distance, there is so much to do in and around the area. With an abundance of high street shops, restaurants, pubs, leisure centres and museums, there is something for everyone in the area.

We used RE/MAX for the sale of our property. RE/MAX was very helpful from start to finish, always there at the end of the phone when needed. Always chasing for updates. They have been truly amazing! Their costs are also very good value for money when you consider the service they provide. I would highly recommend!

A very friendly, in-depth market appraisal. Lots of information was provided about the reason for the valuation and advice on what improvements should or shouldn’t be made if planning to sell the house soon. Overall a very helpful guide on what our house is currently worth. If we decide to sell we would definitely use RE/MAX.
