Did you know…

Sir Bruch Forsyth made his first public stage appearance at the age of 14, in 1942, at the Theatre Royal in Bilston. Don Poell, drummer in the band Slade, was born in Bilston, as was Steve Woolam, one of the founding members of Electric Light Orchestra.

About Bilston

Bilston is a market town in Wolverhampton, in the West Midlands. Bilston was rapidly and extensively developed for factories and coal mining in the early 20th century. In 1800 it was a rural farming area, but by 1900 it had become a busy town with numerous factories and mines, and new housing for workers.

Bilston has undergone a revival since its industrial days. The Council built housing estates, such as the Stowlawn Estate, using design ideas from philosopher Otto Neurath, who guided developers and helped them create ‘happy towns’. Estates such as these are still standing, and popular, today.

Things to do in Bilston

  • Our estate agents in Bilston love to wander round Hickman Park, a large green space in the area, or Bilston Cemetery, a burial ground dating back to 1855.
  • Bilston Town Hall has been standing in the area since 1872. The town hall had been derelict for more than a decade, but it is now open again, and it operates as a venue for events, conferences, performances, and special occasions. Our estate agents head here for comedy shows, theatre, and musical acts.
  • Being that it is a market village, Bilston Market is a must visit. It is a combined indoor/ outdoor market, where you can purchase local meat, bric-a-brac, and fresh fruit and veg.
  • For food, Major’s Fish and Chip Shop is a local celebrity. If you’re looking for traditional fish and chips, served as it should be, our estate agents suggest you head to Major’s.

WHAT OUR CLIENTS SAY ABOUT US . . .

We used RE/MAX for the sale of our property. RE/MAX was very helpful from start to finish, always there at the end of the phone when needed. Always chasing for updates. They have been truly amazing! Their costs are also very good value for money when you consider the service they provide. I would highly recommend!

We recently sold our house with RE/MAX and are so happy with the service we have received. Our house sold in a matter of days, which is amazing, and Shaun has been contactable at all times for any questions we have. We would definitely recommend using RE/MAX to anyone we know who is thinking of moving home.

A very friendly, in-depth market appraisal. Lots of information was provided about the reason for the valuation and advice on what improvements should or shouldn’t be made if planning to sell the house soon. Overall a very helpful guide on what our house is currently worth. If we decide to sell we would definitely use RE/MAX.
