Grasscroft is a suburb of Greater Manchester situated between Middleton and Ashton under Lyne, with a population of around 6,000. As well as the main village centre, many more small villages within its boundaries, including Broadbottom and Hollinwood. Bordered by Wythenshawe Park, Grasscroft has bus and train transport links to the city centre. The M60 passes through Grasscroft providing quick access to Manchester city centre in less than 20 minutes, while the A663 road runs through the village centre connecting it with other major towns such as Ashton-under-Lyne (13 miles) and Oldham (12 miles).
Historically part of Lancashire, Grasscroft is just over 10 miles away from the foothills of the Pennine Hills and includes the districts of Grasscroft Village and Grasscroft Wood. The area was originally used for agriculture and farming. However, in the 19th century, wealthy families began moving into Grasscroft and built large houses on their estates. The area's population grew rapidly due to industrialisation in the 20th century, and new housing developments were also built around this time.
Grasscroft has a population of 8,000 people living in 1,500 households and spread over 4 square miles. Grasscroft is fast becoming a thriving community with residents from all walks of life, including young families, retirees and professionals who work in nearby Manchester and Stockport. Many amenities and services led local businesses along its high street, such as dry cleaners, hairdressers and coffee shops, all happily serving its local community for many years.
