Did you know…

The Astley Deep Pit Mine’s history began in 1845, reputed to be the deepest coal mine in the world, at 640 metres deep. However, its success was short-lived when in 1874, an accident saw 54 men and boys perishing after a tunnel suffered a complete collapse. This resulted in the release of large amounts of naturally occurring firedamp gas. And unfortunately, with miners expected to purchase their safety lights, open lanterns were still used. This led to explosions and the further collapse of beams. A blue plaque to commemorate the miners is located at Woodbury Crescent.

About Dukinfield

Dukinfield is a small town that sits on the River Mersey, just outside Manchester city centre and locates in the Metropolitan Borough of Trafford. It is 2 miles southwest of Glossop, 3 miles north of Hadfield and 4 miles east of New Mills, with a population of around 6,000. Being just 5 miles from Manchester Piccadilly train station, Dukinfield is known for its excellent transport links and is also well connected by road with easy access to the M60 motorway and A5061/A576 roads. It is close to Altrincham, Sale and Timperley, served by three railway stations: East Didsbury, Didsbury and Reddish South.

The town has approximately 12,000 people and is home to several landmarks, including Castle Hill House (now a youth hostel and conference centre), Dunkin House and Crookdake Hall. Many buildings in the town date back hundreds of years but have been given modern facades or extensions to disguise their antiquity.

The Dukinfield Community

As you step into the charming town of Dukinfield, you will be met with beautiful walkways and a delightful blend of historic and modern elements. It is well known for community events and activities, being home to many projects and businesses. The village has several listed buildings, including St James' Church and Manor House, which date back to 1796 but were restored in 1871 after being struck by lightning and partially destroyed by fire; it was used as an auxiliary hospital during the First World War.

The locals are very friendly and welcoming with a strong sense of community spirit, always eager to help their neighbours or fellow residents. There are plenty of activities for children and adults, such as sports clubs and community projects. You will also find plenty of shops, markets and restaurants where you can get everything you need for your daily life at an affordable price.

We used RE/MAX for the sale of our property. RE/MAX was very helpful from start to finish, always there at the end of the phone when needed. Always chasing for updates. They have been truly amazing! Their costs are also very good value for money when you consider the service they provide. I would highly recommend!

A very friendly, in-depth market appraisal. Lots of information was provided about the reason for the valuation and advice on what improvements should or shouldn’t be made if planning to sell the house soon. Overall a very helpful guide on what our house is currently worth. If we decide to sell we would definitely use RE/MAX.
